A premium grade, high-performance, INVISIBLE Light-Pink UV paint, suitable for use in hidden artwork as well as wall and ceiling murals etc. STARGLOW Clear UV paints can only be seen under UV light and have a higher concentration of SMART UV pigments for a richer, brighter UV-POWERED glow, so its the colour that’s invisible, not the paint.

Invisible / Clear means this paint will have a colour-neutral / opaque appearance on a non-UV sensitive white or near white background under normal lighting conditions.
The sheen from it’s satin finish may also become apparent from certain viewing angles.
Clear UV Paints perform best with Fluorescent tube, UV Bulb and UV Canon based Black lights. UV LED based Black lights do not always emit the correct frequencies required to fully activate these paints and emit far too much ‘visible light’ (known as spill) which can over-power the resultant fluorescent glow.
Ultraviolet paints will fade from prolonged exposure to direct Sunlight and thus not suitable for long-term outdoor use. Avoid direct sunlight where possible.
Starglow SMART Paints are essentially decorative in nature and are therefore unsuitable for use as a floor paint or any situation where the paint will be exposed to excessive wear or physical contact. We recommend using a clear Polyurethane protective top-coat if there is any risk of regular wear-and-tear or if using outdoors.
For best results, always apply over a white or white-primed surface. The darker the background colour the weaker the glow!
Whist these paints are not specific made for use on fabrics they should be suitable for use stronger fabrics such as cotton, however it would be necessary for you to test the paint on sample of the fabric first. Do not use Clear UV paints on WHITE fabrics! They will probably be UV sensitive and will clash with the paint as both fluoresce together! Instead choose a UV safe off-white colour such as Ivory or cream.
If you are unsure of how this paint works or its suitability for your purpose, please email or call to discuss first and / or order a sample to try.
We do not supply aerosol based paints, however our paints may be used with a good quality spray gun or a suitable airbrush. Where paints require thinning down for use in spray equipment, you may use a little water to achieve this. Only use a little so as not to impair the paints suspension and binding capabilities.

Use a mains powered UV Fluorescent ‘Tube’ light or UV Canon for best results.
Stir well before each and every use.
Apply over a white background.
Ensure surfaces are white-primed (ideally) and free of dirt/loose bits, grease and oil etc.
Apply protective top-coat if wear ‘n’ tear or excessive contact is likely.
Apply 2-3 uniformly applied coats and allow each time to cure before applying the next.
Be sure to read ‘How to use our paint‘ to understand the nature and limitations of the paint.
If unsure, email or call our Expert Helpline to discuss any specific application you may have.
Don’t…
Use with inferior UV LED based lights.
Expose to direct sunlight.
Use outdoors other than for a short period on a North facing surface.
Apply over a black or dark background
Use on surfaces that will get hot!
Use on skin or hair!
Mix with any other paint!
About Consistency
To ensure your paints are fresh when you receive them, we make them to fresh to order.
We have now further improved our service to include your preference of paint ‘thickness’.
THIN – A Soup-like consistency, not thickened (thin) best for use in a spray gun or air brush.
MEDIUM – A Yogurt-like consistency, best all-round choice for most brush or roller applications.
THICK – A Custard-like consistency suitable for dipping or dabbing as well as brush application.
STARGLOW Paints are Made-to-Order and therefore non-refundable and non-returnable.
Therefore we strongly recommend you order a sample to test suitability for your purpose.
About UV Light
There is much mis-information online about UV light (Blacklight) we’ll clear up a few main points here…
Is brighter really better?
No. Absolutely not. UV is invisible to the human eye so ideally you should see nothing! What you do see is visible ‘interference’ light (known as spill) and is a bi-product of poor quality inferior UV LEDs. This bright, purple glare is not UV and only serves to illuminate the search area, actually making it harder to see the actual fluoresce you are looking for!
The UV rule of thumb is: The brighter it is, the worse it is!
This is why our UV PRO range are made with a special UV PRO filter which removes all visible light and only lets the invisible UV light through. This produces great, professional results.
The more LEDs the better?
Again. Absolutely not. The greater the number of inferior (cheap) LEDs the torch has, the more visible interference light it produces and the worse the result.
Tip: Avoid any UV Torch with more than 9 LEDS.
Does frequency matter?
Yes. The frequency of UV light emitted determines the quality of results obtained. There is a sweet-spot for UV which is between 365nm and 385nm. However, to manufacture LEDs capable of emitting in this frequency range is far more expensive. The cheap UV torches sold on eBay and Amazon, will use inferior quality Chinese made LEDs emitting in the range of 390 – 410nm. At this range the UV light is a very poor quality and the visible light output is at its highest (see here for more about UV Blacklight).
GLOWTEC UV PRO Forensic Torches are made using high quality KOREAN made 365-385nm UV LEDs which peak at 380nm with a much lower visible light output. This provides the best balance of quality, performance and price with excellent value for money.
That really depends on what it is your are looking at / looking for!
Unlike man-made fluorescent materials such as white fabric, white paper and UV paint which all fluoresce brightly under UV blacklight, natural fluorescent substances such as urine and body fluids, which whilst they do glow (fluoresce) under UV light, do not fluoresce brightly! In fact they are generally quite dim, so do not expect a supernova!
The colour shown under UV light is determined by the chemical composition of the substance, not the UV light itself.
